mLab III - Light As Movement Catalyst
01/11/15
Center for Performance Research: New York City
The intention of this workshop was to understand the impact of variable light on physical movement. Participants moved through open and shared space while both subtle and perceptible shifts in the quality and intensity of light were employed. Verbal cues were provided to increase ones awareness of the relationships present between bodies in space. The final exercise consisted of continuous circulation through space with four scenes of electric lighting conditions. Results were recorded and analyzed to asses movement patterns under variable lighting conditions. The workshop aspired to enhance ones experience of space through an increased physical connection and awareness to the surrounding environment through light.
